In a move directed towards clarification, the Quapaw Nation Business Committee passed a resolution at the July 2021 Business Committee meeting reaffirming a Supreme Court, adding needed language, and making it harder for members of the Business Committee to remove a Justice in the future. A tribal court was established previously in 2009 and a Supreme Court in 2018. The new resolution expands on those previous resolutions. The resolution (found below in its entirety) also allows an increase in dockets per month and a more “technological” court to exist through the future use of Webex. Among other things, Webex offers a feeling of security for those that want to testify but don’t want to be in the same room as the alleged perpetrator.
