Quapaw, Ok (April 16, 2021) -Two former Quapaw tribal leaders were indicted today by special prosecutor Doug Dry in the Quapaw Nation Courts on charges of embezzlement, conspiracy, abuse of office, and other criminal offenses.
Eighteen total indictments, with each carrying a maximum penalty of 3 years in prison and a $15,000 fine, allege that between April 14th, 2014, and July 24th, 2020, John Berrey and Tamara Smiley-Reeves either misappropriated or were involved in misappropriating funds in excess of 7 million dollars.
