About the Event

The Quapaw Nation invites all parents, guardians, and community members to attend a free Community Meeting led by Project iGuardian and Know2Protect.

This educational session will cover how to protect children from online exploitation, cyberbullying, and digital threats that have become increasingly common in today’s connected world.

Attendees will hear from Anthony Meter, a Computer Forensic Specialist with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), who will share real-world examples, online safety strategies, and digital awareness tips that every adult should know.

Why It Matters

Children today are growing up online — and that comes with real risks.

Here are some important facts:

  • According to the Baker Center for Children & Families, children ages 8 to 12 spend an average of 5 hours and 33 minutes per day online, while teens 13 to 18 spend over 8 hours and 30 minutes connected.

  • In 2023, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s CyberTipline received more than 36 million reports of suspected online child sexual exploitation.

  • Research published in Computers in Human Behavior shows that online-safety education programs can reduce risky behaviors by 34.7 to 47 percent, proving that community awareness works.

  • Many parents admit they feel unprepared — 16 percent say they rarely talk to their children about online safety, according to Internet Matters UK.

These numbers remind us that education, communication, and awareness are the most powerful tools we have to keep children safe.

What You’ll Learn

During this session, you’ll discover practical ways to:

  • Recognize warning signs of online exploitation and trafficking.

  • Understand how predators and scams use social media and apps.

  • Protect your family from cyberbullying, sextortion, and dark-web dangers.

  • Talk with your children about online safety in an open, positive way.

  • Use tools, settings, and strategies to help your child navigate the internet responsibly.

This isn’t just another class — it’s a hands-on, real-life discussion about protecting our community’s youth in the digital age.

Building Safer Connections

When communities come together to learn, the impact extends far beyond one evening.

National programs like Project iGuardian have shown that awareness training increases parental engagement and strengthens the relationship between youth, families, and law enforcement.

In fact, after participating in community sessions, parents often report feeling more confident in addressing online threats and more connected to the resources available to them.

The goal of this event is simple: to empower our community with knowledge, vigilance, and unity.
