Making Headway On Bear, Bill Starts It's Way Through The House

Quapaw Nation BC Members, Chairman Joseph Byrd and Secretary-Treasurer Guy Barker, began their week making rounds in the House and Senate as they garnered support and additional sponsors for the authorization of Thomas Bear V. United States Of America. Yesterday afternoon, Representative Mullin introduced Bill H.R. 4717 in the house on behalf of Quapaw Nation members, which authorizes the payment of settlement funds by the Department of Interior. The Bill is now destined for the House's natural resource committee and then to the floor. The introduction of this Bill is the first big step since the settlement was reached in 2019, but Chairman Byrd and Secretary-Treasurer Barker are determined to see it through.
