Did you know that Oklahoma tribal nations contributed over $23 billion to the state’s economy in 2023, while preserving centuries-old cultural traditions? Events like the Quapaw Fall Gathering are part of that lasting impact—connecting community members through language, dance, and heritage that reaches back generations.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Quapaw Cultural Committee invites the public to Beaver Springs Park in Quapaw, OK, for the Fall Gathering: “Good Ole Days Pow Wow.” Inspired by pow wow agendas and community traditions from the 1900s to 1960s, this one-day event focuses on celebration, memory, and cultural continuity.

The gathering will feature:

  • War and social dances

  • Stomp dance led by Trenton Stand

  • Cultural contests, including Best Dressed Quapaw Man and Woman, Clown Dance, Feather Pull (for youth), and more

  • A traditional supper, provided by the Quapaw Historic Preservation Program with meat donated by the Quapaw Cattle Company

Unlike many modern pow wows, this event will not include a parade-in, gourd dance, or northern drum. Instead, it offers a meaningful return to the heart of earlier gatherings—where community, simplicity, and respect were at the center.
