The Quapaw Nation Higher Education Department is helping bring practical cooking skills and community learning together this June through its “Cooking on a Budget” workshop series.
Designed to create a welcoming and hands-on environment, the series gives participants an opportunity to learn simple meal preparation techniques, explore new recipes, and build confidence in the kitchen alongside other community members.
Each workshop focuses on a different theme, allowing attendees to experience a variety of cooking styles and meal ideas throughout the month. From learning kitchen essentials to preparing chicken, pork, crock pot meals, and Traditional Quapaw Foods, the workshops encourage participants to spend time together while gaining useful everyday skills.
Beyond cooking, the workshops help strengthen community connections by creating a space where participants can share experiences, recipes, and conversations in a relaxed setting. Programs like this continue to provide opportunities for Quapaw Nation tribal members to learn together, support one another, and enjoy positive community-centered activities.
The workshop series is being hosted at the Quapaw Community Building throughout June from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Workshop Schedule:
June 3 — The Essentials
June 10 — Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinners!
June 17 — Practical Pork Meals
June 24 — Crock Pot-Potluck
Registration closes at 12:00 PM the day before each class.
