Alicia A. Thomas

Alicia A. Thomas of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 59.

Alicia was born February 19, 1962 in Claremore, OK to Gerald Thomas, Sr. and Billie Louise Waters Rice. She had lived in the Baxter Springs area most of her life. She was a member of Quapaw Tribal, worked for Downstream Casino and was of the Native American Church Faith. She grew up in Chicago, IL. She loved to bead and sew and spend time with family and writing and loved going to the beach.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Charlie Howell and Patrick Drake Howell..

Survivors include 3 sons, Joshua Mercer of Baxter Springs, KS, Keaton Mercer of Grove, OK and Frankie Buzzard of Quapaw, OK, 2 daughters, Mary Nell Gray of Baxter Springs, KS and Sarah Mercer of Baxter Springs, KS, Her father Archie (Kickapoo) Rice, 2 brothers, Cricket Rice and Gerald Thomas, Jr. of Miami, OK, 1 sister, Geralyn Thomas of Vinita, OK and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Quapaw Tribal Building in Quapaw, OK. Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Jeremy Olsen will conducted Native American Rites. Interment will be in Griffin Cemetery in Quapaw, OK. Ronnie Vangotten, Nathan Wagner, Thomas Thompson, Dustin Rider, Jim Corcilius and Gavin McCarty will serve as pallbearers. Alicia will lie in state at the Quapaw Tribal Building. Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
